Harvesting the Laborers
We do know then that something is
amiss in the body of Christ today. Many are experiencing a hunger for God
unmatched by anything else they have ever felt before. In John 4:34 Jesus
said "...My
food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work."
I believe the reason you have continued reading is that like many; you have a
spiritual hunger that will only be satisfied by doing the will of the Lord.
Is it possible that when Jesus
prayed "give us this day our daily bread"...
that he was praying for our spiritual hunger along with our physical needs as
well?
In the gospel of John chapter
4:35-36 Jesus continued with "Do
you not say, ‘There are still four months and then comes the harvest’?
Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are
already white for harvest! And he who reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit
for eternal life, that both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together."
The Lord also
said in Luke 10:2 ... "The
harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few; therefore pray
the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest."
The preparing of laborers for the
harvest is what we believe is being called for at this time.
In 1 Chronicles 12:32 the
bible speaks of the "sons of Issachar who had
understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do..."
While we do not
subscribe to the theology that the church has replaced Israel; we are taught in
Romans; chapters 9-11 that we have been grafted in to Israel. Since
you have chosen to view the vision section of this website first; we are going
to concentrate on what Israel ought to do..."
Our call then is to those in
the Wooster to Canton area who
have a burden for the neighborhood in which they live. We believe for now
that the Lord is calling us to work with brothers and sisters in Christ who also
have a burning desire to serve the Lord and know that we can no longer walk with
one foot in the kingdom of God and the other in the world. We desire to bless
and serve others and see true revival come to our area.
This being said we know that
revival can only be sustained in the midst of biblical community.
In a few places in the New
Testament; there is mentioned the church in the house of Priscilla and Aquila, ... the
house of Archippus, and the house of Nymphas, to name a few. Paul's
pattern for ministry as he explained to the Ephesian elders (Acts 20:20b) was to
teach the people "publicly
and from house to house."
This being
said; we believe house churches are part of the foundational building blocks of
a genuine New Testament community of believers.
We are seeking those who want to be an integral part of this community of
believers and realize a transition away from a traditional framework for church
is needed.
While this is true; keep in mind
that WHERE God's people meet does not really "fix" any problem being faced in
the institutional church. What is truly necessary is revelation of Christ
and His preeminence in our lives. When we come to realize that the body of
Christ is non-heirarchial; then we have opportunity for true Christian
community; IF we have revelation of the preeminence of Christ.
Without this revelation however;
ANY attempt to return to a "first century" community of believers; where leaders
simply serve others in humility will only lead to chaos, as someone without this
revelation will simply try to force people into their "vision" of ministry.
